The 45 caliber 3-Lug Mount must be used only with 45 caliber 3-Lug Mount Muzzle Devices; the 9mm must only be used with 9mm 3-Lug Devices.

The outer threads should be the same. You should be able to mount a 9mm adapter onto a .45 can but will only mate to a 9mm device/firearm.
