What is a barrel "extension" ? Is this a complete barrel that can be fitted to a receiver or does this "extension" mount to an existing implement ?

This is a complete barrel. The extension is the part that has bolt locking lugs machined in. This barrel, like most barrels, comes with the extension already installed.
