Scar 17s do have a tendency to be harder on optics and there is really no way around that than trying other muzzle breaks, but the swampfox is a quality optic.
SCAR17s ARE hard on optics, but it has nothing to do with the muzzle report—and changing the muzzle device will accomplish nothing to that end. It’s all about the forward impulse of the bolt. It’s the same reason many other rifles are very hard on optics (and one of the many reasons Stoner’s Design still reigns king IMO). In fact, though people assume that big heavy recoiling weapons are the way to test optic ruggedness, one of the hardest platforms in terms of optics abuse is, counterintuitively, spring-piston driven air rifles. This is because nearly all of the impulse from the relatively massive bolt in one of those is oriented in the forward direction, and most optics are just simply engineered against rearward recoil forces. The only thing you can do to mitigate your SCAR17 eating your optics is to buy optics that are tough enough to handle the bolt impulse. Should be easy enough to look into.
