Is the reticle a donut with crosshairs or just a donut?

The center point of the reticle is just a circle with the crosshairs on the outside for the Steyr 3x Optic for Aug A3 M1.

does install require gunsmith? only ask because it was said the bolts holding rail are extremely hard to get out and can damage upper

No, unfortunately it will not. This optic will only fit the A3 M1 receiver.
