Won't this fit both a 5.56 and a 7.62 muzzle device , since the unit is open ended and without interior baffles and such ?

The SureFire Trainsupp Simfran Ammo SOCOM 5.56 ADAT is caliber specific to 5.56/.223. Surefire has a .308 specific suppressor trainer as well, that can be found by using the following link:

The SureFire Trainsupp Simfran works by attaching to SureFire suppressor mount muzzle devices. If you do not have one you will need one to use this product. You can find one here:

From a previous question asked. How does this not work like the warden blast diffuser and push un-burnt powder and blast away from the shooter?

It will mitigate the blast, but that is not the intended purpose.

According to SureFire, their Suppressor Trainers are intended for use with marking cartridges (e.g. Simunition® FX®, and UTM), training ammunition (e.g. SRTA), frangible and live ammunition in a training environment.
