Does this belt hold 12 gauge shells ?

12 Gauge shells are not meant to be placed in the webbing but you can purchase a shell holder that integrates with the MOLLE webbing.

You will want an XL which is for 40"-44".

The loop is multi purpose, it can be used for hooking objects onto your belt.
