Is the Crossfire 10 x 42 HD (CF-4312) a better option than the older Diamondback 10 x 42 (D241) (not HD)?

These Vortex Crossfire HD 10x42mm Roof Prism Binoculars and the older Diamondback 10x42 binoculars are comparable. These Vortex Crossfire HD 10x42mm Roof Prism Binoculars do have the HD Optical System which has improved clarity and light transmission when compared to the older models. These Vortex Crossfire HD 10x42mm Roof Prism Binoculars also include the Glasspak which is a nice added feature.

Crossfire vs Diamondback (both HD 10x42.) I see the spec differences but what is the performance difference for the money difference?

No, they are not the same as the MPN:CF-4312 is the newer model and is an upgrade over CF-4302.
