The Vortex Defender CCW 1x25mm 6 Red Dot Sight will fit the M&P Shield Optics Ready models. If you do not have an optics ready model you will need the dovetail mounting plate at the link below.

As answered by Hunter, if your M&P Shield is not optics ready, you'll need the mount plate that goes in the dovetail where the rear site is. You will very likely need to file the mount plate to make it fit the dovetail. Even the EGW site says there's variability in fit.
