Not sure how big your backyard is - of the two, I'd pick a 20-60x over a 27-60x, to have a little less magnification on the low end. You might want to consider a binocular - 8x is about the limit most people can use handheld - not only is the image magnified, but also the natural tremble in your hands - even your heartbeat.
Above that magnification - 10x and above, you might consider a binocular that can be tripod mounted binocular, it makes extended viewing more comfortable.
Whatever you select, remember that you have 30 days from delivery to evaluate the product (please return the original packaging), if you find that you have too much magnification, or too little, we're happy to swap it out until you find a suitable product, or refund your money.

Absolutely no question here, the 20-60 X 85! Why? Variation. You are getting 8.25 % more range in your variation with the 20-60 and that makes a big difference at closer ranges. Yet, you have the range limits of the other scope included within the range of the 20-60 so it is an added bonus. Pretty much answers the question for you.
