which end is the front ring

It can be mounted in either direction, however typically the slanted end would be closest to the muzzle of your rifle.

What is the dimension from the rail to the bottom of the tube?

The measurement is not listed by the manufacturer. However, base to centerline of the optic should be around 1.5".

This scope mount will attach to any rail. If your rifle has a rail, it will mount to it.

Yes, it will provide enough clearance on an AR platform or other flat top rifle, it will be higher than necessary on a traditional comb rifle.

It should fit, however this mount is AR height and will most likely be much higher than necessary for you Henry rifle.
