XS includes a hard, plastic punch tool in the package. First, you use the punch to drive out the OEM rear sight from its dovetail mounting slot in the barrel. (Remember, the dovetail is wider on one side than the other; so you have to drive it in the correct direction.) Next, use the same punch to install a 'female' mounting bracket into the barrel's dovetail. Last, attach the rail to the 'female' mounting bracket with a machine screw. If I can do it, which I did, anyone can!
