My triple application of a Shire 2p tent.
I mostly camp out in near-parking locations, with all the extra heavy camping gear, including a tall walk-in sized tent with a XL sleeping cot inside. However when temperatures drop cold, a big sized tent does nothing to keep you from breathing chilly air, and only a degree difference than what’s outside of it. For me, I get nasal congestion sleeping when it’s too cold. The “Shire 2” fit nicely atop my sleeping cot inside my big tent, allowing my own body’s heat radiance to cozy up the air temp inside of it for a good nights sleep. The “Shire 2” design allows for high-low ventilation as well so it never feels stuffy inside. So other than the “Shire 2” use for back-pack camping, I use it for a cot-top tent within my big tent when car-site camping. Also, I found the “Shire 2” size measurements fit atop your bed at home, that can be used in case of a power-outage in winter to keep you warm. I think it’s a good Emergency tent to have on hand to be kept in your home or auto, aside from its general use. I’ve bought a couple of these tents with no issues. Of course calling this tent a two-person tent in its small size would be far too cramped for most, and has practical space inside mainly for one adult in my view. ( I would not however recommend the two larger size versions of this tent that they make, due to a structure support imbalance to their larger tent mass. )
Pros:
- Good design
Cons:
- better if it was just a bit taller
Best Used for:
- emergency back up tent
Would recommend: Yes
