I compared the Bushnell Yardage Pro Compact 800 in the field with other range finders and found it to be comparable in accuracy and had better features in its class. This unit is ideal for the rifle hunter or golf, but is a little bulky and potential inaccuracy for the close-range archer.
However, the Bushnell Yardage Pro Compact 800 did help me succeed on my last archery season elk hunt in Idaho. This little unit did help me quickly asses the distance on an incoming bull elk.
Overall a great unit for the money. I did A LOT OF REASEARCH for the best price. Optics Planet beat them all...again.
Pros: Sometimes the yardage read can be +/- 2 yards different while beaming off of the same object. at ranges under 35 yards. This is not a big deal or most rifle hunters, but in archery, this maybe something to think about before purchasing this unit.
Cons: Bushnell Yardage Pro Compact 800 fits quite well in your hand with the rubberized grip and selector buttons right at your finger tips for easy action. This unit was built for the big game rifle hunter or golfer in mind. The 8X magnification was handy in the field. There were many times when I just wanted to take a quick peek and did not want to break-out the binoculars. The rain/snow/see through branches feature I did not use, but I am sure that this will come in handy in the future. This feature was not available on other range finders I looked at in the similar price range. As far as battery consumption, I have had the same batteries in it since I purchased it a year ago and they still seem to be working fine.
