Works as described, easy to dial in the field
I stuck this on a 556 that I shoot suppressed. It definitely helps get the gas blow-back out of your face when shooting suppressed. It even blows a fair amount of the gasses to the right side. I even had a shooting partner say "what the!?!" when he got a small gust of gas blow off at him a few fe...

Quality isn't what it used to be
Received my package today. My package was damaged and the key that is suppose to come with it for the adjustment is missing. On the tail end of the carrier has a stain or the coating used is blemished. The cam pin is all pitted and the bolt has brass particles like as if it has been used before I bo...

ONLY buy this if you are running a suppressor or are currently over-gassed
On the plus side, this carrier absolutely does everything they say as far as lightweight and venting off excess gas. However, in a build with a carbine lower and an 18" rifle-length gas system in 5.56x45 build, this carrier 'caught' so little gas on the maximum gas setting that it would *only* run the hottest 77gr mk 262 ammo. 55gr and 62gr ammo would produce a feeding malfunction every one or two rounds even on the "maximum gas" setting (we're not even talking about last round bolt hold-open here, folks!). Swapping to a mil-spec "plain jane" carrier solved all problems and resulted in 100% function with all the ammo types on hand, so the problem was indeed this BCG.
What this means is that this carrier cannot be expected to function without a suppressor unless you enlarge your gas port or engage in some voodoo involving different buffers and buffer springs.
Also, the little tool required to adjust this carrier can and will get lost within your first few range sessions, so don't expect to be changing it on the fly as you change ammo or take your can on and off.
This is a good BCG for the right build, but I'm disappointed in this BCG's tendency to induce reliability problems, especially for the price.

Pros:
- light weight, baby!
- ability to tune gas down
Cons:
- will possibly wreck your build's reliability
- you will lose the adjustment tool
Best Used for:
- Those who have an AR-15 that is currently overgassed in its current configuration
