Comtacs iii are Sweet.
Purchased my comtac III's to complete my tactical gear. They fit snug over my cap and the situational awareness is excellant. I would do your homework before your purchase though. Accessarizing can become expensive, but for the price you pay for your comtacs, you want them to perform their best. Mine are connected to the Tri PRC 152, U94 PTT(compatable to military grade headset), and antenna extension mounted to my back. Work hard play harder. The Raven
Almost really great
Great product. Mine showed up with the windscreen covers basically disintegrated off of the sides on something sold as brand new. It's disappointing to have to spend another $50 to get replacement parts for a brand new product

Perfect for shooting and comm
Been using these for almost a year I run it with a push to talk and a 152. Easy to use, great for comm and for shooting fits perfectly with a B5 butt stock. Didn’t notice how great they were till I was ripping on a .50 cal and could still hear everyone inside the truck below me. If your running this on a flak I suggest get a CAAT tail antenna so nothing is dangling off you.

worth every penny
I spent a day at the range and was using those disposable ear plugs and learned a valuable lesson. You only get one chance to protect your hearing and once its gone, it is GONE. My joes had various headsets but my RTO had this one in particular; sure it gets toasty but any over the ear protection will do that. My main reason for getting it: radio compatability. I didn't want to buy just earpro and then have to remove it to talk on the radio. This way I get both comms and protection in one package; and if I can save my hearing its worth every penny.
What's great about the Peltor ComTac III is its performance and design. It looks and is rugged and the cables are reinforced and all the parts fit snuggly together. The one cable ends in a TP-120 connector and if you're looking for a push-to-talk (PTT) adapter make sure you figure out which radio you're using as each has its own model.
The fit on this thing is great and it fits under my ACH. The head band provides a good snug grip on my head and takes some effort to take off which is good; I don't want my earpro slipping off while I'm on the range.
In addition to protecting your hearing it accepts AAA batteries for the enhanced speakers. This was the kicker for me as I put the batteries in, held the power button down and heard a loud tone in my ears. After that everything sounded clear as day.
Fit: 5/5
Performance: 4/5
