This infrared illuminator is very powerful. I originally purchased it for use with my Photon RT to use on a Texas hog hunt. The RT doesn't really need any extra illumination for normal night hunting/shooting ranges of 250-300yards. With the IR300 I was easily spotting coyotes and hogs well over 800 yards away! If we had open fields of a mile, I have little doubt it could have reached that far! My hunting buddy has the Wraith on his 308. He smoked a goat at just under 450 yards! This light really helped with the limited range of its IR illuminator. The two including rechargeable batteries (with builtin charging ports) are awesome! It is modular, you can use one or two batteries for various mounting options. We used the light for 6 nights and never needed to charge it. Its waterproof. Changing between brightness levels takes a light touch and some getting used to. The oversized lense can be focused for flood to spot. The large size did make for mounting challenges and makes the gun a bit unwieldy. When shooting in the open, on sticks it wasn't a problem but in the stand it took some deft maneuvering. Also, when fully adjusted to the spotlight, the lighthead has a small amount of play and can change the beams point of aim. I stuck one of the extra O-ring, that comes with, in the lighthead and that helped.
