glenk's Review of Advantage Arms 1911T Conversion Caliber
I installed this conversion in both my Springfield 1911 45ACP and COlt 1911 9mm. The 9mm required some small trimming to the 22LR magazine to fit its longer ejector. Nothng major, maybe 0.015 material removed to allow the magazine to latch. Otherwise, Fit in both frames was perfect.
The kit uses steel components in places (slide latch, disconnector surface) where use and stress could wear the alloy slide. The 0.625 diameter heavy barrel is locked to the frame using the adjustable guide rod. The barrel rifling is nicely done and crowned at the muzzle.
Accuracy? As accurate ad my old eyes can use the excellent STEEL adjustable rear sight and serrated front blace. Both installed in dovetails in the picatinny rail. I followed Accurate Arms ammo recommendation and used CCI Blazer with great success.
There is only 3-4 ounces of weight difference between the all steel Colt 9mm and Colt with the kit installed! Great for training.
