Christopher Bradshaw's Review of Advantage Arms Glock 17-22 Gen 4, 9mm/.40SW, 15 Round Pistol Magazine & Conversion Kit

I must start by saying that I was initially skeptical. I conducted extensive research and watched numerous reviews. I must say, I am totally impressed with the kit that Advantage Arms has put together. Within 30 minutes, I was at the range, attached the optic, and placed the slide on my G17. I spent the next two and a half hours shooting multiple brands of ammo. I put 750 rounds through the kit. I did not lubricate. I cleaned ahead of time or nothing. I just attached the optic and the slide to the handle loaded the magazine and started rocking and rolling.

Performance: The kit performed amazingly, considering that out of the 750 rounds fired. Only 12 rounds were fired; either they did not fire, or they jammed. Six rounds were straight duds. I experienced four apparent light hammer strikes, and two feed jams occurred due to the bullet being deformed or falling apart before loading, which was quite interesting to observe. The accuracy was perfect. I used two different optics on the slide. When sighting in either optic, it only took a total of 7 to 10 rounds to get the optic zeroed in. The groups remained tight, with only five flyers, which appeared in the later rounds (after 650, I was using ancient Winchester ammo, claiming to be high-velocity rounds with lead round-nose bullets).

Ammunition: CCI 40-grain round nose, Aguila 40-grain, and Remington. The Winchester ammo I was using was old, but it still worked. However, flyers and feed jams occurred while using this ammo. NOTE: Advantage Arms does not recommend Winchester ammo. I understand why.

Fit and Finish: I am quite impressed with the kit. As I said, I loaded the magazine and started shooting. The tolerance are perfect. The slide rocks/moves/shakes, whatever term you want to use, as much as a stock slide from Glock. The finish looks great and appears to be quite hardy.

Installation: This is simple. If you are familiar with how a Glock works and can disassemble and reassemble it, then you can use this kit without any issues. It is identical to a standard Glock slide. You use the same procedures to put it on or take it off as a standard Glock slide.

Value: If you have a Glock and are looking for a way to save money, practice, teach, and have fun plinking, this conversion kit is the one. I absolutely recommend this company's conversion kit. This kit essentially provides you with a whole other gun for a fraction of the cost. I have already bought another kit for a friend of mine.

I'm considering getting the 1911 convection kit. I teach self-defense and handgun defense year-round. I have a Sig P322, and now I wish that Advanced Arms made a conversion kit for Sig handguns. All I can say to Advantage Arms is that they should consider making a kit for all Sig handguns.

Manufacturer Support: I am unable to provide any commentary on this topic. I have not had any issues with the kit.
