Advantage Arm Conversion Kit for Glock 17 to .22lr

by Christopher Bradshaw, from FL, United States Written on October 29, 2025
I must start by saying that I was initially skeptical. I conducted extensive research and watched numerous reviews. I must say, I am totally impressed with the kit that Advantage Arms has put together. Within 30 minutes, I was at the range, attached the optic, and placed the slide on my G17. I spent the next two and a half hours shooting multiple brands of ammo. I put 750 rounds through the kit. I did not lubricate. I cleaned ahead of time or nothing. I just attached the optic and the slide to the handle loaded the magazine and started rocking and rolling.

Performance: The kit performed amazingly, considering that out of the 750 rounds fired. Only 12 rounds were fired; either they did not fire, or they jammed. Six rounds were straight duds. I experienced four apparent light hammer strikes, and two feed jams occurred due to the bullet being deformed or falling apart before loading, which was quite interesting to observe. The accuracy was perfect. I used two different optics on the slide. When sighting in either optic, it only took a total of 7 to 10 rounds to get the optic zeroed in. The groups remained tight, with only five flyers, which appeared in the later rounds (after 650, I was using ancient Winchester ammo, claiming to be high-velocity rounds with lead round-nose bullets).

Ammunition: CCI 40-grain round nose, Aguila 40-grain, and Remington. The Winchester ammo I was using was old, but it still worked. However, flyers and feed jams occurred while using this ammo. NOTE...

Great training device & low-cost pinking setup a must for muscle memory and introducing new shooters

by Jett-Blast, from GA, United States Written on July 2, 2025
Took this kit to the range today and had a blast. Ammo for this is inexpensive, and even the selection of brands that work best is very affordable, especially compared to centerfire calibre ammunition. and was able to shoot for a few hours. it works well as long as you keep it clean and well lubricated. Only had one stove pipe; this happened with the two mags. Probably just breaking in. The rest of the CCI Mini Mag 400 rounds worked perfectly. The quality is high with that brand. Sights are good, no problems hitting targets, being what the firearms come with from Glock. Now my students can work their way up to a 9mm with the same gun. Make sure you get extra Mags, they are priced reasonably.
Pros:
  • Very light
  • simple install
  • same funtion as centerfire factory slide
  • fits in same holster
  • Glock factory sites
Cons:
  • With rimfire ammo pistols get very dirty
  • may need extra cleaning during long shooting periods
  • makes you use up your extra range ammo sooner
Best Used for:
  • introducing new shooters
  • low-cost pinking
  • training muscle memory
