Most Helpful Positive Review Advantage Arm Glock 23 conversion kit
I bought this to get more practice/trigger time with reduced costs. I was not disappointed with the purchase. The Kit is well made and is very easy to install and remove from the frame. I followed the recommendations regarding what ammo should not be used with the kit. It functioned very well and has been very reliable. After having fired about 500 rounds with it, I did have 2 rounds fail to feed. I believe it may have been due to using hollow point ammo. The gun is noticeably lighter due to the slide being made of aluminum. It shot accurately and was easy to clean. It came with a carry pouch ...

You have to be careful of what ammunition you use. It is high quality. Easy to change over. I have a 40 cal Glock I got the 9 mm conversation too. We f ammunition get hard to find you can change over and use what is available at the time. The way things is going we don’t know what going to happen.

Finally tried it. Flawless.

by Drew, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on February 1, 2022
Ok. I bought this late December but with the weather in Kentucky it has been cold and rough outside. This past weekend I was actually able to go out and try it. Over 150 rounds and WOW! Impressive! That thing works flawlessly so far. Initially I was skeptical as I've read reviews as how it can be finicky. But so far it's been working like a dream. But with only 150 rounds though it who knows? But I will say this. It shot straight, and didn't hiccup... At all. Very glad I got it. Could I have gotten a.22 for the same price? Probably. But it's nice to switch between the .40 and .22 with the same grip, trigger, and holster. I really do recommend this. I have an 80% polymer that I finished myself. Built myself and I guess that's one of the issues. Will it work for a polymer 80? I did for me, and it did very well. Really good purchase IMHO
Pros:
  • Shoots well, fun, and so far flawless
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • None. So far anyway.

Using on a Glock23 with a worked trigger group.

by TrapperJ, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on December 5, 2021
Lubed the threaded barrel and slide rails with EWL lightly . Worked the lube in by cycling by hand a bit and started shooting. I used Remington 36gr. Golden cheap ammo. 100 rounds no ftf’s or glitches. Extremely accurate. I’m so pleased that I’m getting another for my extra Glock 17 frame. Cheap concealed carry draw and multiple target practice . Adding Dawson fiber optic adjustable sights to the next kit.
Pros:
  • Cheap practice, accurate
Cons:
  • Keep clean and lightly lube
Best Used for:
  • Anything fun

Fun Plinker

by Eric, from MI, United States Written on October 9, 2021
Another great order from Optics Planet. Ordered on the 5th, delivered on the 8th.
Now for the review. I ordered this to throw on a Glock frame. Duh. I own a few other 22lr pistols, but didn't have one for the Glock. I own several 23s, and recently got into 3D printing. Well, you can see where this is going to end up. Anyhow, I put this on a factory gen 3 23 frame and ran 50 Blazer rounds through it with no problems. Threw on the threaded barrel which I also bought and the Silencerco Sparrow and ran some more Blazers through it with no issues. Also ran some Remington subsonics through it with the Sparrow, and ran flawlessly. This was fresh out of the package, no oiling. Also tested the other two spare mags bought with it and they all ran flawlessly too. Very happy so far.
Pros:
  • Easy to install
  • Nice Case
  • Worked as advertised. Good tight fit.
Cons:
  • None so far
Best Used for:
  • plinking

To buy or not to buy

by Mike.L, from AZ, United States Written on April 11, 2021
Overall the slide and barrel assembly work great. The only down side is, it’s picky on ammo. Even in today’s lack of ammo (04-2021) you still can pick up some .22..... overall it’s a good purchase....About opticsplanet . They have a good return policy. Takes awhile to get your return processed but does happen. Be patient
Pros:
  • works good
Cons:
  • Picky on ammo
Best Used for:
  • practice & plinking
  • Practice and plinking// possible home defense.

Better then the Glock 22

by Dennis, from GA, United States Written on February 26, 2021
This conversion is cheaper and better than the Glock G44. You have the advantage of using your own G19/G23 frame and trigger system. I tested this gun alongside the Taurus TX22. The Tx22 holds more rounds and will cycle anything that I load the magazines with. The Advantage Conversion only holds 10 rounds, but it will also cycle anything that I load the magazines with, however the manufacture recommends CCI minimags. The conversion comes with the standard style drop in the bucket Glock type sights, but with rear elevation and windage adjustments. I haven't looked into swapping these sights out for night sights like I use on my carry 19, but if this is possible it would make this system even better. I am getting the same pounds of trigger pull for both my G19 slide and the Conversion slide using the same frame, which is also nice. I am an NRA Instructor and allow my students to use both of these guns during the Basic Pistol Course, CCW course and Personal Protection Course, so it is also a good way to train for less.
Pros:
  • Cycles what ever I load
Cons:
  • 10 round magazine
Best Used for:
  • Training

nice product

by Not Sure, from CA, United States Written on February 12, 2021
Well made and engineered. At first it would not slide into place on the frame until I saw it was catching on the front of the dust cover of the frame. Pushed it up a bit and it locked in place. They're not kidding when they say it's ammo picky- Mini Mags worked great, Aguila just fine as well. tried some cheap copper Winchester and it wouldn't even load or cycle.
Pros:
  • makes 2 guns out of 1
Cons:
  • somewhat ammo picky
Best Used for:
  • practice & plinking

Seems Well Built

by Andy, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on November 19, 2020
Well here we are in 2020 with another great ammo shortage. What do we do in these times? We shoot .22LR!!! I still wanted to shoot my pistol but I refuse to use my 9mm ammo for fun. (Training yes, courses yes, just no backyard plinking) So here we have the Advantage Arms G19 Gen 3 kit. I did have some magazine issues at first. Some oil and insertion/removal multiple times seems to have worked things in. Overall its not bad. There are some ammunition restrictions so look into that if you have a stockpile of .22LR that may or may not be on their problem list. It will still shoot, you just may or may not have some feeding issues.
Pros:
  • Shoot .22 LR from G19!
Cons:
  • 1 mag
Best Used for:
  • practice
  • reduced recoil
  • save money maybe?
