Obligatory nickname.'s Review of Aero Precision AR15 5.56mm Bolt Carrier Group

After comparing it to my DD bcg, here’s what I think: staking on DD is very aggressive and really nice, but the aero is slightly less aggressive. However, it’s absolutely adequate and quite nice staking as well, fully contacting the fasteners. Both fasteners on the DD and Aero are NOT YFS fasteners. The phosphate coating on the DD is maybe a little better, but honestly, the two are pretty comparable. Both bolts are marked c158 mpi. The DD firing pin has a bit of a polished look to it, compared to a matte finish in the aero firing pin. The DD had zero tooling marks on the carrier, and the aero only had very slight tooling marks near the gas key, and nowhere else. The chrome lining on the DD is a little thicker looking, but the aero is perfectly fine. After comparing the two, really, you are getting a little bit better quality for a much higher price. It may or may not even be worth having something just slightly better for such a high markup, when the aero is already a great quality BCG as it is. The only thing that could definitively set the two apart would be high round count torture tests. If you you don’t plan on going to almost unreasonable extremes, and putting the two to the test, I’d say the aero is gonna be absolutely fine for most peoples’ needs. Overall, the aero phosphate bcg probably the best you’re gonna get for the money. Buy with confidence.
Pros:
  • great price for quality
Cons:
  • Slight tooling marks in a very small area of the bcg
