finish not as described
The description on Optics Planet says this flash hider is anodized. Obviously that's wrong because you don't anodize steel, so i looked it up on Aero Precision's website. They say it's nitrided, and the picture shows a shiny black finish, which is exactly what i need for my nitrided 9mm AR-15 pistol barrel. What i received has a dull gray manganese phosphate finish, and, yes, it was in a sealed Aero Precision package. I could have gotten the wrong thing for half the price from a different brand. Anyway, i guess this would be fine if you needed to match a barrel with a manganese phosphate ...

Areo precision 9mm A2 Bird Cage Flash Hider
Purchased this for a Steyr AUG 9mm barrel. Fit and finish were great. Does not come with the compression washer as stated. Which was no problem, as I already had several. Make sure it is the correct thread for your 9 mm barrel. Finished the look of the gun. I would definitely buy again.

I know this is a low cost flash hider, but...
This is well made, the metal work is fine, but the finish was horrible! It was a blotchy uneven gray, which didn't match any gun I have ever seen. I immediately wire-brushed the entire surface, and went over the outside with several treatments of a cold blue solution. I finally got it to an even black finish, and finished it with a light coating of oil. It looks great now, but a new item shouldn't be a refinishing project.

I have nothing negative to say about this item at all.
What soured this purchase was the strange trip this package took to get to my house.
It bounced all over the country.
However, I don't think it had anything to do with Optics.com.
It was the US postal service. If you are waiting on a purchase, I would suggest
you spend a little more on the shipping method.
