Yorge's Review of Aero Precision A2 Detachable Carry Handle

Ill say whats good about this carry handle first. Its mil-spec(measured shelf height), it looks good with a nice flat black anodizing thats even and free of blemishes, when clamped to an upper receiver the front lines up with the receiver perfectly, rear sight assembly is mil-spec and high quality, the windage knob has nice positive clicks as does the elevation drum.

Now the bad. The hole cut in to the handle for the rear sight assembly is too large and rough. It allows the rear sight assembly to tilt rearward considerably. Due to the oversized hole and the roughness from when it was cut when you try to use the elevation drum it binds. Raising the rear sight assembly feels rough and you can feel "pressure" on the drum as you turn it. However lowering the rear sight is where the big problem is. The sight is so canted in the rough cut hole that it us very difficult to rotate the elevation drum. I tried oiling it despite it coming very greased but it didnt help. Its so hard to lower you really cant feel the clicks and pushing down and forward is nessisary when you get about one rotation from fully lowered. Also, due to the above issues the rear sight will sometimes twist to the right when elevating and stick there instead of returning to a left twist like its supposed to because of the spring and detent built in to the rear sight assembly.

It is possible I got a very defective one but I should never have received this handle in the fiest place. The problem is so blatantly obvious if you try to raise and lower the rear sight just one time. Something quality control should have caught. Things like this tell me Areo cares about sales not quality.
