So first off don't read the negative reviews aero makses super quality products. It says right in the title that it's and ehhanced handguard built specific for aero uppers. Or you buy he nut for non enhanced uppers. Don't leave negative reviewes if you are not educated on the product.

You will never find a barrel nut
There are no alternatives either. Works only with the upper receivers that already fit them. The barrel nut that is supposed to make it adaptable to other builds, is on back order for six months. Don’t waste your time with this. OpticsPlanet has no other affordable/comparable items that aren’t over $200.

Half Solution
Unless you have a BAR Barrel Nut on-hand, good luck mounting this thing….absolutely none anywhere….at all.

M4e1 not compatible
Aero really needs to make it a point to say that this is only compatible with the m4E1 ENHANCED upper. They even should bold it and upper case it. I don't even see it listed in the description here at ALL. The point of me buying this handguard was so I didn't have to buy an extra barrel nut, but then when I get the handguard I found out you need an extra enhanced version. The company can't be clear in their description and advertising. There's a reviewer trying to put that all on me as the buyer for not doing enough research. That's a bunch of BS.. when you read a description for a product that piece of information is important to be listed in there, I'm curious to where the other reviewer got his proprietary information. He probably learned by ordering the wrong parts like I did lol.

Aero Precision Enhanced Handguar GEN 2
Guys I see some people have concerns over the barrel nut. Please understand this is the ENHANCED hand guard. It mates to the ENHANCED upper receiver directly which serves as hybrid type system. The barrel nut / locking system is part of the upper itself.

Great look and feel — would be perfect if the barrel nut was in stock
I love the larger Aero Precision Gen-2 M-LOK handguard — it looks fantastic and has a solid, premium feel on the gun. Gives plenty of room for tucked suppressors or bigger linear comps and cleans up the profile nicely. My only gripe is the barrel nut (BAR nut) is never in stock, would’ve been perfect as an all-in-one buy. Otherwise, great piece and highly recommend if you like a roomy, sleek handguard.

Great handguard, just missing one thing
Really like the look and feel of this Aero Precision handguard — clean design, lightweight, and feels solid once installed. Only downside is that it doesn’t come with the barrel nut, which would’ve made it a perfect package. Still a great choice if you’re already running Aero parts.

Aero Gen 2 handguard
The Aero gen 2 handguard is a thing of beauty - particularly when paired with an Aero M4E1 ENHANCED upper. When using with the standard M4E1 upper - it can be very challenging if you do not have the AERO BAR nut. If this is the case - only buy the Aero handguard when the BAR barrel nut Is included.

- Awesome when used with Aero M4E1 ENHANCED UPPER
Cons:
- A real challenge to find AERO BAR nut fit using with standard mil spec upper
