Three types of NOD in one device

I assume if you’re reading this you already know the basics of this device, in short a 3rd Gen White Phosphor NVG (starlight) monocular combined with a monochromatic Infrared thermal optic that can be used independently or together in a fusion mode. As a NOD it’s a pretty stellar all in one device. Meant to be helmet mounted but can be hand operated by simply attaching the battery case to the top of the unit. As a NVG device only, the 3rd gen white Phos tube is really good. Great clarity. Manual gain control and great light gathering. Even has a small built in IR illuminator for close up work. The device has to two independent controls: one for the NV and one for the thermal. If you turn them both on it fuses the two but makes the thermal more of an outline instead or a heat spectrum. You can select white hot, black hot, or orange hot color modes in both full spectrum thermal or the hybrid outline. And it has a breathing mode in the fusion which breathes the thermal outline on and off and you can set the speed of the breaths. It’s a useful setting in an urban environment with lots of heat signatures as the thermal outline can get a little busy and distracting. So if you set the breaths to slow you can look around in NVG and every few seconds a thermal outline of heat signatures will slowly appear and then fade away.
