Conman's Review of AGM Global Vision PVS-14 1x26mm Night Vision Monoculars
I purchased the PVS-14 3AW1 monocular. This devise is fantastic for seeing what your naked eye simply cannot. Being a gen 3 tube the image clarity is very good, especially compared to the gen 2 models available. I did have some issues with the monocular turning off randomly for a few minutes initially but that issue has gone away. Being brand new units, the focus rings on the front and back are very stiff and hard to rotate to the desired focus. The battery cap is canted slightly towards the center of the unit, however it’s still functional with zero issues other than cosmetic looks. If you are sitting on the fence waiting to be able to purchase dual tubes but only have enough money to buy the proper accessories for a pvs-14, buy the pvs-14. Any night vision is better than no night vision, DON’T WAIT. This technology is only going up in price while simultaneously becoming harder to find the units along with proper accessories. Depth perception is also an issue. Walk around your house with one eye covered up and you’ll know what I mean. However, there are benifits to Having one eye adapted to natural night vision. Training is the only way to become proficient in utilizing the pvs-14 system to its full potential. These devises aren’t as intuitive as a dual tube setup due to only being over one eye, but they are half the price and for night vision that goes a long ways. I would recommend getting a unit that runs off of AA batteries. These are cheaper and easier to find than their cr123a counterparts. Don’t skimp out on mounts either. Can’t say much about the skull crusher and Jarm included since I purchased a team Wendy bump hemet along with a Wilcox g24 mount with a Wilcox Jarm to mount the devise to. Being light amplification units, these units need some form of ambient light. Ensure you get the proper IR illuminators for the job. As with any night vision, take care of your unit. It’s a big investment. Be sure you always take the batteries out when it’s not in use. Don’t have the objective lens cover off unless it’s in use during the night time. Overall this product does exactly as advertised.
