Most Helpful Positive Review Rattler v2 25/256
Twice as good as the original 25/256 for the same price. Battery life is great, image quality is significantly better than the original, and all of the features are an improvement. This thermal is perfectly suited for hunting hogs/coyotes within 200-300 yards. Furthest coyote I have shot with it was 400yd but it was almost impossible to identify at that range, I wouldn’t have took the shot but I positively identified it at 150 yards prior to it running when I shot its mate. This thermal isn’t made for long range night hunting, but what is the point of that anyway? If you can’t get a coyote wit...

AGM RattlerV2 25-256-25mm Rifle Scope

by Hog Smoker, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on June 28, 2026
AGM has come a long way with their products! I already have one and a monocular. Have had no issues and put a lot of hogs on the ground. This one will just upgrade my 6.5. I’ve hunted with the younger guys that have to break out the high dollar scopes and this old man does just as well and usually better than them.lol. Let’s throw a plug in there for the quality service to Optics Planet!!!

AGM Rattler V2 25-256

by Scott, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on April 28, 2026
Im not familiar with thermals. This is my first. With that being said this thing is cool. I havent had a chance to go through all of the settings in the menu, there are a lot of them. I havent had the opportunity to zero it either. I have played with it some. On the 3.5x base magnification, with adjusting the diopter, it has some very fine details. Kick it up to 7x and a lot of those details go away. Kick it up to the 28x and its pretty much just pixels. But, i was aware of this from reading all of the reviews before i purchased it. I cant really say how far i would be able to spot sokething at since i live in a place without a lot of open area. Solid machine. Controls are pretty easy to work onve you get the hang of it. For the price i think its a good entry into thermal, thermal. The extra battery is awesome to have. It comes in a very nice case. All in all i enjoy this thermal.

Great Entry Level Thermal Scope

by Richard, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on February 27, 2026
Being new to thermal, I think this may be the best bang for your buck scope on the market. The buttons are like learning Braille at first but they get easier each time you use it. Clarity has been amazing, zeroing waswas relatively easy(ChatGPT was helpful), battery life great. The only problem I have had is synching to my phone but I have not updated the firmware and I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
Pros:
  • Clarity, Price, ease of use, battery life
Cons:
  • Normal learning curve
Best Used for:
  • Pigs, varmints

It's perfect. Spend time with it your hands before placing it on your weapon. It's much easier to learn this way.

Great value

by Rattler, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on November 7, 2025
This optic is everything you need. More features than I’ll use. Zoom beyond the capability of the resolution, but perfectly suited for the hunter focused on game between 1-200 yards. Great product.

Had been researching this thermal optic for a while. Finally decided to pull the trigger and make the purchase. Excellent product performed better than expected. Plus Optics Planet was the only company with a hundred dollar discount. Now that's a total win!

Price reflects the quality

by Kevin, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on September 16, 2025
For under 1100 bucks youre getting what you pay for in terms of thermal capability. With that being said, youre also getting a lot for under 1100. Starting with amazing packaging, 2 rechargeable batteries, a quick detach mount thay actually holds zero, and a ton of internal features which make zeroing and using the optic between systems possible. The 3.5x standard zoom is a LITTLE bit much, making walking around with it difficult. But the clarity on 3.5x is excellent and spotting is easy up to 175 yards. Once you start zooming in, you jump to 7x I believe and it starts getting a bit grainy. For me this isnt meant to shoot anything past 20p yards in the dark anyways. I already have night vision and didn't want to be left in the "dark" when it came to thermal. This is a "budget friendly" entry for me. I do in hindsight wish I had gone for the 380 for 500 more.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Gets grainy quickly on higher magnification, starts at 3.5x zoom
Best Used for:
  • Varmint hunting, protecting the night
