dubyam's Review of AIM Sports Inc AR/M4 MLOK Handguard

Snagged on of these in 15" on sale for a 6.5Grendel hunting rifle wearing an 18" barrel. Swapped out a 13" free float I first put on that build just to gain a little more fore end. The 13" is fine and will go on another build some time. But the 15" offers just enough more hand grip area behind the bipod mount to be perfect. The finish on this handguard is a nice, even matte black which matches my upper (PSA) and lower (Amderson) anodizing nicely. Fit was great, and I have zero idea what the other reviewer was talking about as there is no indexing of the barrel nut required on this handguard. Maybe he had an earlier model? Anyway, grabbed a torque wrench and the right sized crow's foot and put the barrel nut to 45ft-lbs. Easily and quickly mounted the handguard with the supplied hardware. The design is secure and the anti-rotation tabs are nice and snug at the upper receiver interface. Took care not to overtighten the clamping bolts as my brother (who bought one of these right before I did) said his stripped with too much retorque when he pulled the handguard off to clean under it. On a good note he said Aim was good and sent him new hardware at no charge. After having this on a few hundred rounds through two different rifles, I'd say it's maybe one of the best deals out there on free-float handguards.
