KJK's Review of AIM Sports Inc AR/M4 MLOK Handguard

These aren't advertised as blemished however they're inexpensive for a reason, low quality control by the manufacturer. Like everyone I wanted to save some money, saw these rated well, and purchased a few of them. All of them had poor finishing with readily observable machining marks from being poorly finished. Some companies call these blems. I over looked this on a couple shorter ones I used first because at the end of the day you really do get what you pay for and they at least functioned well. I installed a longer one at 13.5" that also had poor finishing and was willing to deal with it. The problem with this one was the anti-rotation tabs were out of spec making co-witness almost impossible. I had waited over a month to install it so a return to Optics Planet was out however the warranty was in effect. I contacted the manufacturer, mailed it back in for warranty replacement, and was given a verbal guarantee they would not replace it with a blemished product. The customer service from here on was terrible. First they tried saying it was fine and that my sights, that cost more than the hand guard, were out of spec. As proof of this the manufacturer sent me a link to an outdated blog Q&A where someone didn't understand how to install sights. The manufacturer failed to actually read the "A" part of the Q&A that essentially disproved the sights as being out of spec. After a lot of back and forth that reached a level of absurdity, the manufacturer finally agreed to send me a new hand guard. I just open the box and it's a new hand guard.....that's poorly machined and blemished. So if you want to save a few bucks on a handguard, don't mind blemished products or low quality customer service, and a manufacturer that makes you jump through hoops before they'll sort of honor the warranty is alright with you, then buy an AIM Sports hand guard. After all this, I wish I had just bucked up another $50 or so and bought an A or B list product.
Pros:
  • It's metal and has a lot of M-Lok
Cons:
  • Poor finishing and bad customer service from manufacturer.
Best Used for:
  • An example of you get what you pay for.
