Great optic for my application. - Aimpoint ACRO P-1 Red Dot Reflex Sight

Can’t speak to the Optics Planet aspect as I got mine from a different source, but I own one of these and I’m quite impressed. Mine is mounted to a compensated Glock 34 build.

I own RMRs, as well as essentially every brand of higher end 1x optics, and what I don’t have I likely have used extensively either in the military or civilian world, so I believe I can speak to the ACROs quality in comparison.

Pro’s:
1. Clear glass, clearer than RMR (less blue tint)
2. Enclosed emitter. If this is for an offset backup for a rifle, or for a service pistol exposed to the elements (or any other similar application) this is a big advantage, since an RMR or any other open emitter dot can be occluded by debris or water. Dot go bye bye.
3. Battery can be changed without removing optic.
4. Almost exact same footprint as competitors, like RMR, on a pistol slide.
5. Durable as heck, waterproof to something like 80 feet, and technically will work fine underwater as it’s enclosed for all you navy seal shark hunters
6. Very bright daylight max setting. Too bright for any lighting I’ve used it in including full summer sun, and lowest setting is nearly invisible so I assume it’s NVG rated.
7. It’s an aimpoint....

Cons:
1. It’s nearly twice the weight of an RMR, I think 2.1oz vs 1.2 oz. between this and a comp, as on my Glock 34, expect to put in a lighter recoil spring. Mine seems to work best with 13 & 14 lb springs. 13 is probably your huckleberry.
2. It’s ugly, and appears large as heck until you realize it’s technically the same height, length, and width of its competitors. (all this bothers more people than you’d think, though not myself)
3. Uses a smaller coin battery, which is kinda odd I guess, has less battery life than RMR, though still mine has been on one of the higher settings for about six months, and the batteries are cheap and can be replaced without effecting zero, so don’t be a penny pinching crybaby and I guess you’re good.
4. Fairly small window compared to SRO, DPP, T-1 micro, and (maybe) even RMR
5. The front lens is barely recessed, which I could potentially see being a problem when compared to an RMR, though if it breaks, it’s just a protective lens so in a SHTF scenario it’s not gonna be the end of the world.

Yes, that seems like a lot of cons, but I wanted to be thorough and objective. But...I’ve got over 1000 through mine so far with no hiccup. First battery is still going strong. I’ve been relatively rough with it to no ill effect. It will function in conditions where an open emitter will not. If it gets mud on it, *wipe,wipe* and you’re back in the game. I have no complaints on practical use or performance. It’s a great optic, and I’m glad I got it.
That said...for IWB concealed carry, where the optic is protected from debris, except maybe minor lint dust, I’d go with an RMR. Maybe because my Glock 19 carry gun has 20,000+ rounds with one and I’m used to it, or maybe because the window is superior, or maybe because it’s slightly smaller because it’s not enclosed. Maybe because it’s prettier even. I couldn’t tell you. But this 34 with the ACRO is on my battle belt intended for hard use and OWB carry, and I have no plans to replace my RMR on my IWB CC Glock 19. Take that for whatever it’s worth, which I assume is nothing, since we’ve never had the pleasure of meeting and I could be a 500lb androgynous mass who lives in his moms basement eating hot pockets and only plays call of duty all day. Never know...
