Blake Burwell's Review of Aimpoint ACO 2 MOA Red Dot Sight

I probably have at least one of every type of the most common red dots out there. This AimPoint is just okay. For the price I expected more. I have both more expensive and less expensive red dots and this one, base on optic quality, operation and lack of accessories (lens covers, lens cleaning cloth...), I would rank this one among the middle. The optics quality is fair to good. The number of dot sizes or clicks of dot brightness either doesn't work properly or the first few settings are so dim you can't see them, even in total darkness. The last two brightness settings are so bright they have a halo effect almost a hazy double vision effect. Every red dot and scope I have purchased has come with lens covers to protect the lenses from dirt, dust and damage. Not AimPoint. The instructions even say, lens covers can be purchased at an extra cost. Really, for what you pay you would think two little round plastic caps would accompany your new red dot. Another small thing, no lens cleaning cloth or lens paper. I suppose you can buy this too at an extra cost. I'm surprised they didn't charge extra for the box and the very simple instruction pamphlet. It was simple to mount, easy to sight in and so far appears to be built to last (at least for now, we will see after I run it through a few combat courses). When asked if I would recommend this product I said yes, but shop around, check out others. You may find something of similar quality, better price and it may even come with lens covers.
