MadMatt's Review of AIM Sports Inc Ruger 10/22 Tactical Quad Rail

I have this mounted on a 10/22 along with an ATI Fiberforce stock. It fits really well, with very few modifications. All I ended up having to do was remove the top handguard (now unneeded with the rails covering the top of the barrel anyway) from the stock and reverse the bottom rail (due to the built in sling mount on the front of the stock). Both things were very easy to do and installation took a total of about 10 minutes, even with no instruction in the box. Other reviews complained about having no screws but mine came with longer ones than standard to fit the thicker material of the rail. For the low price, it might be worth trying it on some other similar after market stocks also. I am pretty sure it would fit right up on the Hogue rubber overmold ones that taper towards the front, or the Choate Dragunov. Just about any of them where the front end of the stock is similar to the original (and is the same length) should work with little modification. You might have to do something with the bottom front rail like I did, but it's just 4 hex screws holding it on and easily either removed or switched around. Also there is included a spacer (included) to put between the regular barrel and the rail system, which can support the top rail if you delete the small bottom piece entirely.

The only thing I didn't like about this rail system is that it added a lot of weight towards the front of the gun. It is mounted on a gun with the ATI fiberforce stock which is already lighter towards the rear due to the skeletonized butt. This adds almost all of it's weight in front of the magazine, and since that's where most of the attachment points are, any added weight is going to mostly go there too. It's not a huge gripe,,but something to think about.

Keep in mind also, this does eliminate the usability of at least the rear factory sight. Not really a problem, since you're probably adding something with the rails anyway, but also something to mention.

All in all I think this thing is a lot more versatile than they give it credit for.
Pros:
  • Cheap
  • well made
  • attachment points
  • Lots of options
Cons:
  • weight
  • eliminates factory sights
Best Used for:
  • modification
