Good for shooting...but
This is a good scope. Just not perfect for my application which is long range shooting. Not the fault of the scope though...I just need a stronger one. I do need to crank it out to the full 45X to see bullet holes at 100 yards for a .223 rifle.
Pros: I get a clear image of the targets when other shooters say they cannot see their shots 'int the black'.
Cons: The adjustment for focus seems to be just a bit touchy making it a challenge to get a good focus.
Good scope, as long as you're getting a good deal on it.
This is a nice compact scope that does its job very well out to 30x power. Past 30x I notice a fair amount of chromatic aberration and as others have mentioned it becomes hard to accurately focus. Also, the eye relief at 45x is about nil, and negative nil if you are wearing any sort of glasses (probably a problem for prescription eyeglass wearers). All of that said, from 15-30x the scope is bright and very capable, and despite the problems, still usable for me at 45x. It is very light, and for my purposes (range trips and backpack hunting) it will serve well until I can afford a $500-600 scope. I purchased this through DVOR.com (a special sale Optics Planet website) for $78 and at that price point have no problems recommending this scope. If you are paying more than $100 I would suggest looking elsewhere, lest you be disappointed. I did read good things about Alpen's "no Fault" warrantee, which I hope never to have to use, but its comforting that its there.
