Most Helpful Positive Review Great bargain bino
This is a great bino for the money. Works great with eyeglasses. Wide field of view allows me to find and track birds and butterflies more easily than with my narrower FOV binos. I really enjoyed using them for the first time this evening watching groups of vultures and a hawk soar in the sky. Twist down eye cups function nicely. Color and finish of these binos appear better in hand than as shown in picture. Not as sleek and light as my 8x42 roof prism binos, but not too heavy or awkward either. Optical quality impressive considering price. No CA that I could detect. Based on this experience...

I'm sure the alpen pro 8x42 wide angle binocular is good...

by barium, from NJ, United States Written on October 27, 2017
because it seems to possess most of the characteristics of my meade safari pro 8x42 wide angle porro binocular which was made in japan.
I've been coming across a lot of references to this alpen bino and it seems to have a great reputation. it's performance may roughly equal my meade safari pro.
Pros:
  • wide angle of view
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • scenic nature viewing

There are so many good things to say about the Alpen model 317.The brightness-multi-coating gives a very bright image even on cloudy days-the twist up eye cups-All focusing wheels turn very smoothly just to mention a few. I did not expect to get this much quality for the price.
Cap in Ohio.

Excellent product; not ideal for hiking, etc. due to larger size. However, optics and eye cup system are superb.
