Great for kids, cheap and super warranty
I bought a pair of these for my daughter. She absolutely loves them. I have looked through them a few times and they are fantastic for a $60 pair of compact binos. My daughter broke them in half with a rocking chair and trust me, they were tortured before they finally broke, they even made a couple trips into the bath tub. I sent them in to Alpen and they were replaced, no questions asked. Decent optics, great warranty, and inexpensive. Cant go wrong for the price.

Don't make the cut
While the field of view is exceptional in a reverse porro these are the most uncomfortable and difficult compacts I've ever used. To get the full view you have to push your face into these and the focuser is pushed painfully against your forehead. To focus you have to pull your face away to avoid getting pinched by turning the focuser. Terrible. While the optics are acceptable they are not as clear as my pentax 8x21 at a comparable price and are not nearly as bright. I cannot recommend these binoculars to anyone at any price.
