Kayak/Canoe/River camp shoe
Bought these for an upcoming 30 mile canoe trip and river camping. Couldn’t be more impressed with the fit and quality. For reference, I have flat wide feet. I normally run 10.5 US size boots/shoes with Lowa and Viktos. I bought 10.5 Wide in the altamas and they fit perfect, true to size. There are a lot of old reviews of these on other sites but they were before Altama had half sizes and wide sizes. Check out their other urban assault models if you are looking for more of an everyday, non-maritime environment shoe.
Noisy Maritime
I want to start by saying that during the week I’ve had and worn these boots, they have been very comfortable. I’ve watched all the videos on YouTube concerning their purpose, build quality and reviews. However, the one thing that somewhat concerns me is the noise they produce while wearing them. I liken it to someone balling up a plastic grocery bag. It seems to come from the material inside the mesh lining of the tongue and ankle material. I’ve only ever heard this noise come from an old or dry rotted shoe or boot. The material doesn’t appear dried out or stiff. I haven’t read of any other user experiencing this noise. So just as a concern without knowing, I give four stars.
