Looks great installed. I’m in the process of testing it out on my Bergara B14R trainer to see what if any kind of improvements. As of now it really improved the look of the end of the barrel. The fit and finish are great. I will follow up with more as I tune it to my rifle.
Pros:
- Fit and finish
Cons:
- None that I can find
Best Used for:
- Any type of shooting
Would recommend: Yes
It works well to a point
It reduces recoil well. But on a 300 Win Mag shooting 200 grain bullets there is no way to adjust the break. You have to take out all 8 set screws to reduce muzzle jump. My rifle weighs 9.5 lbs and you still cant watch the target through the scope after firing. It makes shooting the rifle much more pleasurable and manageable but I think my expectations were to high. On a smaller caliber say anything based on a 30 06 or below you would probably be able to maintain your sight picture. Still I would recommend it because it helped a lot but you have to be realistic about what to expect. Probably not a brake out there that you can maintain your sight picture using a 300 mag unless your rifle weighs north of 12 pounds.
Pros:
- Looks cool
- Reduces recoil
- Price and install ease
Cons:
- Not enough recoil reduction to maintain sight picture
Best Used for:
- target practice
Would recommend: Yes
Best choice for me
I have shoulder and back issues and needed a stronger cartridge than the 357 Mag rifle I have. I found a great deal on a 30-06 Model 70 sporter barrel rifle that a previous owner had threaded 1/2×28. When I was younger I had a sporterized Mauser in the same chambering and remembered that it kicked much more than I knew I could currently tolerate for range sessions. After narrowing down my choices of brakes for 30 cal that had the proper thread pitch, I started researching. APA's Micro B "The Answer" had the most thorough reviews and was near the top in unbiased tests for recoil reduction. I took my Answer fitted 30-06 to the range today and was impressed. Not only was the rifle pleasant to shoot, but the customizable ports on the top allowed me to keep the target in vew the full recoil impulse. To me, there was a negligable difference in recoil between my 357 Mag lever action and the 30-06 with this brake. If you want or need something to help manage recoil, I believe you should seriously consider APA's The Answer (especially on a hunting rifle). This thing is lightweight, easily timed, and does not look gaudy like some brakes.
Pros:
- Ease of use
- Weight
- Customizable
- many variations
Cons:
- Limited finish options
Best Used for:
- recoil
- Muzzle rise

Excellent brake
Tried this brake after seeing some good things online. Needed a 9/16 thread so my choices were limited. The self timing nut makes timing simple and I like the tunable ports. Made my 30-06 feel like a .223.
