Front sight is is too tight, metal is brittle - Ameriglo Tritium Front/Rear Combo Sights Green Dot White Outline Rear And Green Dot Orange Outline Front For Springfield XD/XDM/XDS XD-741

I had these sights installed using appropriate equipment. From my research, Ameriglo is partnered with Trijicon however, Trijicons sights for the same pistol are thicker at the dovetail base on the front sight. After installation, I noticed the front sight had dimmed. I opted to remove them and return the sights. Upon removal, the front sight developed a small crack at the base on the right side looking forward. Once removed, the sight came out, but the whole right side of the dovetail remained in the groove on the slide. The press used to install and remove them was appropriate, and my gunsmith has done many of them. It appeared to be a flaw in the casting. If installing them using a screw press, one will need to use a file and remove more material than usual off the male dovetail being fed into the female dovetail, left to right looking forward, so the right side. You're better off getting the Trijicon equivalent. It seems QA is better. All my Sigs, 1911's, and XD's have Trijicon or Novak. Don't settle for less.
