Good, solid magazine but... - Ammunition Storage Components AR-15 223 Rem Magazine w/ 10-Round Capacity with 20-Round Body

TL;DR - I got this magazine because I don't like the ergonomics of shooting prone with the banana magazines available to me. I can happily say it solved all my ergonomic problems with flying colors. The good far outweighs the bad when it comes to this product. It's way cheaper than the H&K stainless magazines, and does just as well as them for those of us living in restrictive states. I'm calling this a good buy and want to get more soon.

Body:

This ASC magazine is rock solid and fed well with both 5.56x45 M193, and American Eagle .223 Rem. ammo. The anti-tilt follower worked well and was very visible, and the finish didn't wear from the rifle mag wells I tried it in. The stainless steel body feels way more solid than aluminum bodied G.I. mags. I did a drop test from one meter and they held up fine too. They weigh more than their aluminum counterparts, but I find it worth the durability.

But, like anything, it has some drawbacks. The head of the plug that sticks out of the floorplate of the magazine makes it stand up awkwardly, and stops the floor plate from being removed. It looks like either a really deep hex bit could turn it, or it could be a long rivet, I haven't tried taking it out personally. The crimping on the sides of the mag make it so you can't convert this mag to it's standard capacity as the follower can't go past it. Great for complying with the law and keeping costs down, but ultimately making the magazine immutable if you decide to relocate to a more firearm friendly jurisdiction without buying a new magazine entirely.

Overall, I like it a lot and will purchase more soon. Despite some issues, I think it more than makes up for it in it's durability, function and finish. I highly recommend them for anyone living in magazine capacity limited states and I can't wait to try their 20-round standard capacity mags!
