Most Helpful Negative Review Only holds 9 rounds!
Looks great, seems built well but it’s obviously a company lacking any QC department. I bought 2 magazines for a retro build. Both only hold 9 rounds and one magazine needs a round taken out for mag to seat properly with bolt closed which makes it only 8 rounds!

NOT Worth It

by Z., Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 20, 2021
I bought three of these, to be honest, mostly for the old-school looks... and for shooting from a bench or the prone position.

Of the three, one will only take 9 rounds. The 10th one you can somehow manage to jam in, but there's no way that the bolt is going to be able to strip it off the mag and load it into the chamber. So what's the point???

These are basically standard metal 20-rounders that somebody has crimped to hold only 10 rounds. Judging from the 33% quality fail on my order, they must be doing this by hand.

Too lazy to return. Just marked it up so I don't confuse it with a true 10 round magazine.
Pros:
  • Looks
Cons:
  • price

Total garbage!

by Rob, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on June 26, 2020
Bought 2 of these and they are garbage. One only holds 9 rounds and the other does hold 10, but 1 round has to be removed from each mag to get it to latch into the rifle with the bolt closed. So I actually got an 8 round and a 9 round mag for my money. One of the mags I received looks used also. The rounds catch on the front lip of both mags and they don’t slide out the front smoothly, I’m sure this will cause jams!
Pros:
  • Looks like a real 20 round capacity mag.
Cons:
  • Does not hold 10 rounds! Crimped at different levels! Rounds hang up on front edge!
Best Used for:
  • Looks good in a rifle on display.

Good, Solid magazine but...

by Myles, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on October 12, 2019
TL;DR - I got this magazine because I don't like the ergonomics of shooting prone with the banana magazines available to me. I can happily say it solved all my ergonomic problems with flying colors. The good far outweighs the bad when it comes to this product. It's way cheaper than the H&K stainless magazines, and does just as well as them for those of us living in restrictive states. I'm calling this a good buy and want to get more soon.

Body:

This ASC magazine is rock solid and fed well with both 5.56x45 M193, and American Eagle .223 Rem. ammo. The anti-tilt follower worked well and was very visible, and the finish didn't wear from the rifle mag wells I tried it in. The stainless steel body feels way more solid than aluminum bodied G.I. mags. I did a drop test from one meter and they held up fine too. They weigh more than their aluminum counterparts, but I find it worth the durability.

But, like anything, it has some drawbacks. The head of the plug that sticks out of the floorplate of the magazine makes it stand up awkwardly, and stops the floor plate from being removed. It looks like either a really deep hex bit could turn it, or it could be a long rivet, I haven't tried taking it out personally. The crimping on the sides of the mag make it so you can't convert this mag to it's standard capacity as the follower can't go past it. Great for complying with the law and keeping costs down, but ultimately making the magazine immutable if you decide to relocate to a more firea...
