Great quality and functionality - Area 419 CZ457 Improved Scope Rail

Area 419 really did a great job with the design on this scope base. The slope matches the CZ 457 action perfectly and really looks like it belongs on the action, not an afterthought. The slope also gives a little extra clearance for the zoom ring if you mount your scope further forward. The dovetail clamp pinch mounting method is very stable and secure, though you might have to go tighter than their torque specs say. I had mine torqued to the advised 22 in-lbs and the base would slip occasionally. I upped that to 25 in-lbs after talking to them and it’s stayed in place since.

The only two non-positive things I can say about this are that I had to reach out to check if it was okay to increase the torque on the mounting screws, and that the bubble level is kind of useless. Because the way the base mounts to the dovetail on the action, you don’t get a 100% true mating. So the bubble won’t be accurate in most cases. It’s a cool idea, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s just kind of a fun feature that doesn’t have much application. It's also in a place that isn't easy to see while shooting.

All in all, I think it’s the best scope mount available for the CZ 457. It is a bit taller than some of the other options, but I think that’s a small trade off for the quality, look, and features.
