I was expecting to not be able to see very well with a gen 1 night vision. I was amazed how clear the view was. I like the rectangular view instead of a round view finder. The color vision only works if there is some light. In total darkness it looks green. Great night vision for the money. Would recommend this product

I did not know what to expect for the cost, but I was quite surprised by the clarity and range. I use it to see into our back yard at night. On fairly dark nights, I was able to clearly see the tree line on the far side of the fairway behind our house, roughly 150 yards. It took some adjustment on the gain and was significantly better using the illuminator. I also took it on a Caribbean Cruise and was surprised to make out mountains and ridges on several islands while offshore that could not be seen with binoculars.

Got this for my brother for Christmas, looks great, just like the video you can find on youtube. Still figuring out the zoom, etc. but great quality overall. Our uses include looking at wildlife in our backyard which is a forest preserve. I was impressed.

Nice optics for first GEN night vision. Compared to my first GEN Russian made NV optics. Tha older ones have a fish eye effect, grainy picture and some white spots in the center while viewing. This pair is digitized, crisper view, some color can be achieved with the gain control. Impressed with the picture quality. Glade I got the 4 power not the six. Six power would be to much for close use. Price right, great quality very happy with the purchase. Not second or third GEN but it's not priced as such. Check a pair out they wont dissapoint.

I get a kick out of this device. The monocular is clear and crisp in moonlight. When the infra red is lit it will illuminate out to 100 ft/ 35 yds.
I use this monocular to check out the critters in the back 40 and if the gain is turned down almost to the point where the image fades, this scope displays the hint, a whisper of color. I would call it subdued color. The unit fits well in the hand, feels solid and is lightweight. I really can not fault this thing, for what it is, it works fine and at the price I think is a bargain. O.P. also sells at least two illuminators that afix to the monocular, one is not adjustable and reaches out to about 100 yds., and another has adjustable features and claims to illuminate much farther out.

This is a great night time spotting scope. Minimal moonlight provides a clear view and on moonless nights the infrared illuminati works well. Battery life is very good too. This little digital scope is comparable to my Gen 3 scope but for a fraction of the cost. Bright light does not harm it and it actually works fine in the day.

Well I have had this device for a few weeks and have tested it in a variety of conditions.

Under ideal conditions you can see a decent distance. Not long after I got it I tried it out on a big open field close to my place. I was able to read a highway sign that was about 100 yards away but the cool thing was that the green highway sign was noticeably green.

What really impressed me was how it performed last night on a clear moonless night. I was on a very dark road and was able to make out a street sign 2/10 of a mile away. Further down the road I was not able to see a good distance but that part of the road is in thick forest. All I could see clearly was the area the IR light lit up but with the gain set just right I could still distinguish different colors. I want to stress that everything within the IR lights range was perfectly clear as in I could see various different blades of long grass that stood out.

On my way back home I decided to stop by a pond to see how it would look through the device. Distances ranged from 10-45 yards. While scanning the shore I quickly discovered that a herd of deer were eating and drinking around the pond. And it wasn't just the clear shape of the deer that stood out the most. I could clearly see they were brown deer standing in green vegetation. I did have the IR on and had to fiddle with the gain to really make the color differences stand out. 1 buck, 3 does and a fawn. Great little unit. Took my a while to establish that the lens adjustment was cranked tight, called customer service and they had me straightened out in moments-very helpful to have that support.The 4x zoom really reaches out there, but you do have to tweak the focus as you use it (obviously!). Can't recommend this enough, unless you have a few grand to spare for Gen 3...
Pros: Only $200, works good long distance without the IR
Cons: For $200? There arn't any! Blew my friends away!

I always knew that somebody will eventually invent a decent, high quality and inexpensive night vision monocular. I waited several months for this product release. I'm writing this review because I received this unit yesterday and I'm really satisfied with the purchase of Prime DC 4x and I want to say thanks to guys from Armasight for this good job. I like the picture clearness and brightness and what's more important is that it is colourful.. It is very light-weight and easy to operate.
