Most Helpful Positive Review Finally don't need a PHD to use a thermal scope
I have Pulsars, ATNs, and I've even tried AGM units and nothing has been as easy to use as the Armasight Contractor. The photos don't show it but mine came with a QD mount... not sure if I got lucky or what but it was really nice. I mounted it up, took the thermal target that came in the box, and on...

Most Helpful Negative Review disappointed
Bought in January little frustrated for the price would go another route next time. As far as pros functions are easy to use, configuring is simple, sighting is easy. Cons digital zoom gets super blurry and touchy, no consistency whatsoever. A huge con is battery life these things will die in a hour...

Wild hogs nightmare

by MikeyD, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on January 4, 2025
Spent some time getting familiar with dials/controls. Built a thermal target and sighted in scope at 150yd. Scope zeros very well. First hog taken in dark at 315 yards. Very good image.

Well Built Tool

by Alan Wolf, from NY, United States Written on March 8, 2024
I have played around with thermal monoculars and scopes for a while, professionally and as a predator hunter. Most of those that were worth mentioning were either outside the affordability range for an average mortal, or/and out of reach for those working outside the government sector. That all changed about 3 weeks ago for me when l pulled the proverbial trigger on this Armasight Contractor thermal weapon sight. From the moment I opened the package it was very obvious to me that the unit was quality built. One of the best things right out of the box, that jumped at me was: the owner’s manual appeared to be just a few pages. I think 20-ish or so. Almost to a point where l believed that they may have forgotten to include the full manual with it. Soon, I discovered why. The unit is so intuitive and simplistic that the two round knobs out of 4 total buttons on this scope take care of all but two functions, and are so easy to navigate that no complicated explanation is really necessary! The remaining two buttons are a “Push to record” button and an “On-off” button. Everything else is managed by two large “jog-shuttle”- like knurled knobs, easily manipulated even with a winter-gloved hand. The sighting in was literally 5 rounds at 50 yds, last 3 punching the center of the target out. The 6X magnification might be a bit, too, much for a hunter shooting at moving targets, but that’s, I guess, why they named this model Contractor and not Hunter. I have used it in the hunting fields ...

Arrived Inoperable

by Ballistic45, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on November 7, 2023
This is a nice looking scope but unfortunately my first order resulted in a lemon. Neither properly installed batteries or the USB connection powered up the scope. Obviously, I initiated a return and am ordering a replacement. Hopefully the next one will reverse this rating. Right now, Quality Control has earned One Star.

320 thermal

by Wade, from GA, United States Written on February 12, 2023
The resolution leaves a lot to be desired, but it is a 320. I have easily detected deer to 150 yards, but smaller animals are difficult to distinguish. The digital zoom gets quite blurry. Sighting was pretty simple.

All Around Great 320 Thermal

by ShooterOpinions, from UT, United States Written on October 25, 2022
I've had a chance to use the Contractor 320 6-24x and the 3-12x on several hunts down in Texas. One thing that stands out for me is the ease of use. Initial set-up is super easy, scroll through the color palette and reticle style, one shot zero, confirm zero, and roll out. The one-shot zero is way easier than I thought it would be but a good clean target or thermal specific targets really help. Aim center and shoot, then hold center while you dial the zeroing reticle to the point of impact and then set it. That becomes your new zero.

Durability
The optic held up to all the normal truck and razor rides, hot TX days, cold nights in the Rocky Mountains, and some rain with no problems. This was mounted to my AR10 308 so there was some recoil but nothing excessive.

Image quality
One of the best 320 thermals out there. My first experience was pretty good, I could easily identify targets but the zoom function was useless. My second outing came after a firmware update and it felt like they doubled the resolution.
Pros:
  • Ease of use
  • long battery life
  • One shot zero
  • simple recording
Cons:
  • Long startup time
  • export file is to large

Awesome resolution and Perfect Magnification for Predator Hunting

by Wyatt Strange, from MT, United States Written on October 13, 2022
We purchased the 3-12 25mm lens unit of this Contractor when it came out. I have a review on there as well. I really enjoy the field of view that the 25mm lens offers, but if you are calling in coyotes or shooting at distances 100 yards plus, then this 50mm is where its at. I strongly recommend that if you are buying on specs, that you compare the Contractor to other "320 resolution units" we've tried several and there's no comparison to the detail this unit provides. Not sure why that is. Also love the simplicity of the buttons and menu on this unit above all others.
Pros:
  • great zoom range
  • Excellent resolution
  • incredible battery life
Cons:
  • No range finder
Best Used for:
  • hunting
