Armasight unit does what it claims to do

by Steve, from FL, United States Written on July 12, 2015
Have not had much experience with this device yet. Just got it a few weeks ago. That said, the only problem I have with it is its size. I would prefer a more compact device for carrying in the field. The imager comes with a very nice lanyard to wear around your neck but when you are walking, the devices bounces on your chest. You have to hold it down with one hand. That said, performance-wise it works as described, very well!
I use it for animal rescue work and can see images a quarter mile away with no problem. Would have preferred no base magnification but the 3X is like many rifle scopes and most objects are not two feet in front of you where you would see a blur. About ten feet out you can get a clear image. Controls are easy to use on the fly and the unit is ruggedly built! The display color options are plentiful but I found the Fire and Ice option best for me so far. Again, my field experience is still limited. The binocular eyepiece is very nice even with one objective lens. Got used to this using binocular night vision so maybe I am spoiled.

All in all, This imager is top of the line quality, ruggedly built, has easy focusing on the fly and has the best features. For the money, it can't be beat if you can handle the size and inconvenient field carry.
Pros:
  • Ruggedly built
  • Top of the line features
  • binocular vision
  • simple convenient controls
  • three year warranty
  • Nice storage bag with strap
Cons:
  • bulky to carry around in the field
