Armasight wwz 4x generation 1+ night vision rifle scope - Armasight WWZ 4x Gen 1+ Night Vision Rifle Scope

I bought an Armasight WWZ 4X Gen 1 rifle scope and I can’t be happier with the product. I took it out a few times and compared it to a Night Owl monocular I have. Apples to oranges but after reading the instruction manual and comparing it to the Night Owl, the Armasight appears to be delicate. Night Owl states that street lights and headlights will generally not damage the device while Armasight warns against it. My Armasight came with a spot in the lens that is a lighter color green than the rest of the image. It almost went back for an exchange but decided that it wasn’t worth the trouble. The lens focusing ring was so tight that I was worried about breaking it at first. The lens focusing ring focuses for distance and the diopter is a fine adjustment.
The Armasight focused well enough to make out fence pickets at 150 yards (in the city during a half moon) and insulators on a distribution pole at 165 yards. Much further that the Night Owl which is attributed to the IR810 illuminator. The Armasight illuminator also extended the Night Owl's range too.
The first time I took it out hunting hogs, it was mounted on an old AR-15 SP-1 Sporter with a carry handle. This raised the scope too high. I couldn’t rest my check on the stock and the windows on the blind were too narrow for that arrangement. The windows blocked the view of the scope. FYI if you use the illuminator in the blind, reflective light can wash out your vision through the scope.
The second time I used the scope, it was attached to an AR-15 with an A3 top and a front sight. The illuminator was attached to the picatinny rail on the front sight of an 11.5 inch barrel with a 5.5 inch flash. The sun was very low and the cover was on. A target was set at 50 yards and the performance was very good. The only issue was that the reticle seems large at 4X on a distant target but the bullets hit inside the crosshairs. About an hour later, three of us shot at a target at one hundred yards. It was dark and the moon nothing more than a sliver. Most of the rounds fell within 2-2.5 inches of the bull’s eye. All three of us were very impressed.
