Bio's Review of ATN X-Sight 4K Pro Edition 3-14x50mm Smart HD 30mm Tube Day/Night Rifle Scope

Tired of cobbling together my own night vision scopes so stepped up to the 4K pro. Originally had some lock up problems every half an hour or so. Then the newest software came out so I installed it and the unit no longer locked up but I had smf errors and the compass no longer worked correctly. I then downloaded the same file again and changed the end 0 on the file name to a 5 so it would be seen as the latest and greatest and installed it again. That worked well no more smf errors in several hours of use and the compass works correctly again. I need to try the obsidian app again as it would not hold a connection with the earlier download. Software aside this is a great day/night scope although you will need a spotting scope to see your hits on targets past fifty-seventy yards. I took it down to a nearby river and in complete darkness with my best 940nm IR flashlight I could easily see a couple of hundred yards. Stock 850nm IR is good for 150 or so yards. A better 850nm would probly get you out over 200 but the picture gets pretty grainy past that so your target would need to be good sized. I use this on my FX Impact and with the barrel droop the gun has I had to shim the scope base or buy special mounts so I would have enough elevation for the scope to be useful. This unit also worked well on my MP15 rifle. When combined with one of the ABL rangefinders this scope will give you your range and move your reticle to the aimpoint needed for a hit. Nice!
Pros:
  • Cheap nightvision with daytime use
Cons:
  • Heavy, buggy software
Best Used for:
  • Hunting, plinking
