Citywaterman's Review of ATN Extended Power Battery Kit

After researching the ATN X-SIght II scope, I realized that it would be a good investment to purchase the ATN extended power battery, to avoid the expense of purchasing lithium AA batteries to keep the unit powered up. I read that the X-Sight scope is power hungry and that the extended power battery would last up to 22 hours with full charge. After receiving my complete order from Optic Planet (2 weeks using the free shipping option), I charged the battery. It was recommended to initial charge for a minimum of 10 hours. It took about 20 hours to get a full charge. The unit has two USB connections, so you can power up your X-Sight and another USB charged device, such as your cell phone at the same time. I found similar power units on the internet for less, but I felt more comfortable buying the ATN product to use with their products. The battery pack works as advertised. The battery come with a rubber cover to protect the SD card slot and keeps moisture out at the power location. It also come with a pouch that attaches to the butt stock of your rifle. Seems a little bulky, but a must have to secure the battery to the rifle. The pouch is secured to the butt stock with 3 Velcro straps. The ammo holder slots on the pouch is nice, but my 30-30 rounds were a loose fit. Side note: after adding the scope, the side mounted IR light and the external battery pack, your rifle has some extra weight added. I could easily carry it, but you'll have to get used to the added weight. I'm satisfied with the extended power battery pack and I would definitely recommend it.
Pros:
  • Good extended power
  • Two USB Ports
  • Up to 22 hours power
  • Nice looking pouch
Cons:
  • Bulky pouch
  • Ammo Slots on pouch a little loose
Best Used for:
  • ATN X-Sight II
