Atn laser ballistics 1500 - ATN Laser Ballistics 1500 Rangefinder w/ Bluetooth

I’m a little conflicted with this review. Full disclosure, I did not purchase this range finder from Optics Planet, but rather another internet vendor (begins with the letter M) for significantly less than what it’s listed for here. For that matter it was significantly less than their regular price, maybe because they were clearing it out as it is no longer listed on their website. When I received the range finder I found that it would range nicely but it would not pair with my iPhone. Thinking that it may have shipped with a battery with a low charge, I bought a new battery and it immediately ranged and linked as it was supposed to. The next morning I tried to turn it on and got nothing, it would neither range or link. Long story short, after two more new batteries I determined that it would operate fine for a few minutes on a new battery but would quickly drain them of charge and cease to function. I decided to call ATN directly to ask what to do and the agent quickly determined that they would need to send me a replacement. He emailed me a proof of purchase form that I was to return with my receipt. I did that and then waited for a response which was not forthcoming. After a couple of weeks I called them back to check the status of my return and find out what was supposed to happen next and a different agent told me they had no record of the correspondence. He did, however, email me a FedEx shipping label and okayed the exchange without further proof of purchase. He told me to expect it to take about 2 weeks to receive my replacement (a week for the original to get to them and another week for the replacement to get back to me). Being cautious, I tracked the return package and it was slated to deliver to ATN in 5 days rather than his projected week. To my surprise, on the same day the return reached ATN, my replacement landed on my doorstep! After approximately a month it seems to be operating as advertised, both ranging and linking to my iPhone ballistic app. So far it has ranged in a positive manner quickly and with good repeatability. I’ve actually ranged (a highly reflective target) out to 1875 yards. So yes, I would recommend it to others, I would just hope they would have better luck than I at getting one that worked right from the start.
