Dustin Wolfe's Review of ATN ODIN LT 640, 1-4x19mm Compact Thermal Viewer Sensor, Multiple Patterns & Color Options Reticle

I cannot recommend this product enough. I would say that it’s in direct competition with the Iray’s. There are pro’s and con’s to this product in relation to the Iray.. The biggest (and only) con that I have is the lack of more color pallets. This unit is white hot/black hot only. Not a problem for what I am using it for, but would be nice to have the “active alert”. Now that the con is out of the way, let’s talk about the pro’s.. Firstly, the clarity is amazing. This is not a nerfed thermal unit, and the clarity is FAR beyond the Flir Breach which has half the clarity for approximately $500 more dollars.. Now, my absolute FAVORITE part of this unit. We all know that thermal burns batteries far faster than night vision, and battery management is crucial. This unit has an optional battery pack that installs on the bottom side of the unit which extends the life to about 5 hours (still not the best part). When you purchase this battery pack, you can run a USB C cable to it from any usb battery bank, AND THE UNIT WILL RUN FOREVER WITHOUT THE USE OF A SINGLE BATTERY!! I run a PVS-14 over my right eye, and this unit over the left eye on my Ops Core, and it’s awesome only having to change the AA battery on the PVS 14 every once in a while, and never have to put a battery in the Odin, just plug in any rechargeable usb battery from your pocket (back of helmet)! Hope this insight helps you save a ton of money on a truly PHENOMENAL unit!
Pros:
  • Clarity. Ability to run generic battery band to power the unit when optional battery is purchased
Cons:
  • Lack of more color pallets
Best Used for:
  • Tactical applications, animal spotting, hunting,
