ATN Odin LT 640
I cannot recommend this product enough. I would say that it’s in direct competition with the Iray’s. There are pro’s and con’s to this product in relation to the Iray.. The biggest (and only) con that I have is the lack of more color pallets. This unit is white hot/black hot only. Not a problem for what I am using it for, but would be nice to have the “active alert”. Now that the con is out of the way, let’s talk about the pro’s.. Firstly, the clarity is amazing. This is not a nerfed thermal unit, and the clarity is FAR beyond the Flir Breach which has half the clarity for approximately $500 m...

Very light weight
I love the versatility of this unit. Being able to use it as a handheld or a helmet mount makes it all the better. Easy and simple to navigate and I can extend my usage time frame with single batteries or my battery pack when im out hunting.

Odin Lt 640
I love my odin LT. The 640 resolution on such a lightweight compact unit is incredible. It fits in my pocket and even the kids love it.

I returned it
Second review since optics planet keeps hounding me with emails. It didn’t work so I can’t review it!
Pros:
- Turns on for a millisecond
Cons:
- Turns off immediately
Best Used for:
- Returning it
Would recommend: No
Never got to try
I just received it, no damage to the packaging. When I turn it on, it turns off immediately. I can just see the battery percentage for a split second. I tried my own new batteries, same result. I don't trust the longevity of the product if it can't survive shipping.
Pros:
- Don't know haven't had a chance to use it
Cons:
- Questionable durability
Would recommend: No
Good piece of equipment
I recently purchased this unit as an addition to my search and rescue equipment. After playing with it for a little while I found the controls easy to learn and overall the unit was easy to operate. It does seem to be a good entry level unit and I was pleased with the detection and identification ranges (at least in cold weather, still waiting for things to warm up). The resolution (with the 640 unit) is lower then what it would be on a third gen night vision unit, but it opens up what you can find with a quick look. There was a notable blemish in the picture but it didn't detract too much from the operation. It is sold as "best suited for stationary observation" but I was able to walk with it with a little practice. I did buy one of the helmet mounts and found it a little lacking as it didn't have the adjustment range for a perfect fit for me but really like having some head mount option. The mount locks in with a set screw, which wasn't my favorite and was the main reason I didn't give the product a five star rating, if it had a PVS 14 style adapter it would be a nice touch, that being said without the mount it fits very well in a padded belt pouch. The ability to use an external battery is wonderful and I like that you can also use CR123 batteries as a backup. The lack of extra features keeps the cost down (for thermals anyway) and the controls easy to use.
Pros:
- Simple to operate
Cons:
- mounting option

Buy quality
Bought this thermal a while ago and have had VERY good service from Rod Gerard. He quickly addressed my issue and sent me out the replacement part (rubber eyepiece)before I knew it.
ATN might cost more than other NV or thermals but you won't get any better service! It's an investment I'm glad I paid for. Buy once cry once. Don't buy the cheap knock off Chinese made stuff. But quality products and the service that comes with it.

Above entry-level thermal monocular which contains a lot of features for its size.
Having done some initial research before buying this monocular I wanted something that was to be used both for hand-held and head-mounted use. I also liked the fact it did not have a built-in battery since thermals like digital night vision have a significant low battery life when compared to analog night vision.
The first thing you'll notice about this monocular is its size and weight. It's extremely small and lightweight while still capable of 4x zoom. I opted for the 640 model since I would be using the 4x zoom and didn't want to lose resolution when trying to ID from afar.
After using it with the OEM head mount bracket I did not like the fact it's secured by a tension screw. If your planned use is beyond just viewing this stationary than look towards investing in a quality mount (I'd recommend from Noisefighters). The included rail on the monocular is not a true mini-rail like on the MUM-14 or Sionyx Opsin, but it's close enough. For retention I suggest positioning the monocular at the desired distance and marking that position the rail. Drill a hole so the set screw of the mount secures and dummy cord it with either shock or 550 cord.
Operation-wise this monocular has an easy to use interface system once you read the manual and use it a couple of times. It has white-hot and black-hot modes and you can cycle between 1x, 2x and 4x. If you're using this very briefly than CR123s will be fine, otherwise if you intent on prolonged use get the extended battery pack that char...

Very impressive device!
Great thermal. A little bit expensive, but you get a high quality clear thermal picture with this unit. I also was pleasantly surprised that the maximum range to pick up heat signatures was further than stated. Any entry level thermal can't beat it! Really like that it can be mounted on the helmet. Highly recommend
